If I Hadn’t Majored in English, I’d Never Have Made it In Management

One-hour keynote address for university leadership and faculty. Susan reveals how the liberal arts prepare students for jobs in business and leadership. Find out more about the three things liberal arts students offer that employers are desperate to find in their workforce today!

Emotional Intelligence for Leaders

One-hour keynote for business leaders and educators.  Whether we like it or not, emotions play a profound role in professional settings, affecting decision-making, actions, collaboration, and performance.  Emotional Intelligence is the differentiator between leaders who succeed and those who struggle.

Business Writing for Writers

Workshop (16 hours classroom time) for students who already know how to write, teaching them to apply their writing ability to business “deliverables”—proposals, requirements documents, budget notes, status reports, organizational communication and more.  Sessions arranged to meet your schedule.  Maximum: 20 students.

Business Resumes for Liberal Arts Students

One four-hour session for humanities and social sciences students:  how to build a resume from scratch; how to translate humanities and social sciences knowledge and experience into business terms.  Students also learn to write “objectives” and “summaries” that not only represent liberal arts abilities but also get noticed!

"It’s not about what you should major in, but that no matter what you major in, you need good writing skills and good speaking skills."
— Debra Humphreys, Vice President, American Association of Colleges and Universities.

"While the ultra-specialized technical skills you often read in job ads will create an army of qualified niche-filling followers, liberal arts majors have genuine leadership potential."
— Susan de la Vergne, from "Nothing Prepares You for Leadership Like the Liberal Arts"
